Dear Parents,
The Community Outreach Initiatives for Birmingham encourage us to address the urgent spiritual and physical needs right around us. Our focus in the Birmingham area is the East Lake/Gate City community.
In doing so, we have an opportunity over the month of April to model this by partnering with Mission Birmingham to help start a Library for Mark’s Village. Mark's Village is a low income housing community in the Gate City area. The 600 children who live in this community will have access to the resources they need for a better education through the formation of this library.
How your child /family can be involved:
• Purchase books from the Book List (located on the back of this letter) and bring them to the Preschool Family Picnic on Sunday, April 29th.
• If you cannot attend the Family Picnic, please drop them off at the South Annex Check In Desk.
We know that you will give generously but we would like to encourage you to help your children invest themselves in the process. Here are some suggestions to help your child:
• Talk to your child about the needs for education.
• Pray with your child and ask God to use the books for His glory among the people.
• Do chores that are in addition to their regular chores/responsibilities at home to help earn money to purchase the books.
• Help your child set up a lemonade stand to raise money for books to be purchased.
• Take your child with you to the store to purchase the items.
As you encourage your children to accept the mission, communicate to them that through their efforts we all are joining hands to meet the needs of those around us.
