Marks Village Outeach
Health Clinic and Fall Festival Update...
On October 29, 2011, The Church at Brook Hills, Divine Faith Missionary Baptist Church, and Mission Birmingham came together to hold a free health clinic, fall festival and winter clothes distribution for the residents of Marks Village in Gate City. What a perfect day it was with temperatures in the 60s and blue, blue skies. Over 400 adults registered for the day's events. Health care professionals from Brook Hills Small Groups graciously and patiently saw and prayed with every adult who came through the clinic. Games were everywhere around the Community Center for children of all ages that had been brought, set up, and manned by Brook Hills Small Groups - a fun day for all who attended. As lunchtime approached, the aroma from the grill was overpowering. Divine Faith has some awesome grill chefs, and hamburgers and hotdogs were freely offered and enjoyed by all.
Love poured out from the many people from Brook Hills as well as from Divine Faith as residents of Marks Village were ministered to in the clinic and through the games. This was a great day for the residents to learn about the new staff and programs offered by Mission Birmingham in their Community Center. We know the gospel was shared and that the residents know they have a church in their community that cares for them and wants to be a part of their lives.
