Pray For…
Ready Day One
This week we are praying for North Park Baptist, Bill Wilks, Pastor. We are also praying for Ready Day One, an initiative to prepare students in Birmingham’s fourteen public housing communities to be ready for school on day one by removing the obstacles that prevent impoverished families from being ready. For more information, visit brookhills.org/adults.
- Day 1: Pray for the 4,000 K-12 students living in Birmingham’s fourteen public housing communities. Pray for their salvation, for their academic success, and for opportunities and support to break from the cycle of poverty.
- Day 2: Pray for the families who will be touched through Ready Day One and for the Spirit to guide them to the truth of the gospel. Pray for provision as they struggle to meet basic physical needs in their own family.
- Day 3: Pray for financial assistance in preparing for Ready Day One and for our faith family to graciously give on behalf of the poor, especially in Marks Village. The total cost to sponsor 4,000 students is $400,000.
- Day 4: Pray for the people and the organizations that are sponsoring this initiative. Pray for pastors, urban churches, and suburban churches to come together as the Body of Christ in Birmingham and for God to use this initiative and the unity of the Body to platform the gospel to the people of this city.
- Day 5: Pray for the distribution day (July 28) as volunteers seek to cultivate ongoing relationships with families in these housing communities and to express the love of Christ to them as they deliver the supplies to the children and pray over each student. Pray for opportunities to share the gospel while serving these families
- Day 6: Pray for the teachers and schools in the city of Birmingham as they prepare for the 2012/2013 school year with these students. Pray for their salvation, for wisdom as they prepare for the school year, and for increased compassion, patience, and love for their students.
