Short-Term Mission

Why are we doing Short-Term Trips?

Our goal as a faith family is to pour ourselves out for the sake of the lost, the poor and the global church. At Brook Hills our approach is two-fold: strengthen the church in “reached” contexts (where there is at least some presence of the church) and establish the church in “unreached” contexts (where there is no existing church). Short-term trips are the primary means to achieve the goal of strengthening the church in a “reached” context.

Short-term trips are strategically designed to serve the church by identifying and equipping Brook Hills’ leaders to take Brook Hills’ members and partner with collaborating churches and field partners. We want to:

Engage the lost in partnership with the local church
Empower the poor through ministry alongside the local church (ex. Build a well in India through that existing local church.)

Equip the church primarily through biblical training

Our prayer is as our faith family goes to serve the church on short-term trips God will use that exposure of different contexts to prompt many to serve in longer capacities.

Joining a Short-term trip is easy. Below is a list of the 2011 Brook Hills’ sponsored trips. If you are interested in a trip, click on the “Apply” button to begin the registration process. In order to apply for a Short-Term Trip an individual must be a Christ-follower; Member of the Church at Brook Hills or a regular attender who is registered for Impact; Demonstrates understanding of the Gospel and the biblical mandate for global missions; Expressed agreement with The Church at Brook Hills Vision, Mission, Goal, Values, Strategy, Statement of Beliefs and Community Covenant. Please contact in the Global Disciple-Making office for more information on joining any of these teams.

The trip costs below are a current estimate. Due to changes in airline prices, we reserve the right to adjust the cost of the trip upon securing reservations.

Description: This is an excellent introduction to a multi-cultural environment, including Muslims. Teams will host VBS / Rock the Block at apartment complexes, build relationships with men and women in the community, and provide prayer support for international neighborhoods. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together.

Description: This is a unique opportunity to minister to Muslims in the northwest region of India. The primary focus of these teams will be to train national believers how to share the Gospel with their Muslim neighbors. This is another opportunity to directly participate with a team who is sponsored by Radical Experiment funds.

Description: This is a great option for families with students. Teams will work alongside the local church and Brook Hills members and Long-Term missionaries the Nichols and the Coes. Teams might participate in Rock the Block, training and disciple-making opportunities with130 kids and their house moms in an orphan community. Teams will also have the opportunity to run student camps for the children and students during the summer dates.

Description: A team is needed to go and support one of our Brook Hills’ church planters on the field in North Africa. This team will serve field missionaries to help establish the church by working to engage an unreached Muslim people group.

Description: Participate in the Radical Experiment firsthand with the Brook Hills’ partner Neverthirst. Teams will visit villages that have received or will receive water wells. There may be opportunities to teach hygiene, sanitation and disciple women in the “adopt a village” program.

Description: Teams will be working with two Brook Hills’ Mid-Termers, Hanna and Ginna, in a local coffee shop interacting with people and sharing the gospel. Teams will have the opportunity to teach English clubs and build relationships in an extremely under-reached context.

New York City

Description: Teams will have an incredible opportunity to work among Muslims in one of America’s most diverse cities. Teams will build relationships through English classes, VBS/Rock the Block, and spending time in the community.

East Asia

Description: A team is needed to serve college students through an English camp. This opportunity provides exposure to unreached peoples.

India

Description: Participate in the Radical Experiment firsthand in India. Teams will work in Delhi and the surrounding villages with Brook Hills’ partner COI (Cooperative Outreach of India). Opportunities include working with children and teens in the slums, ministering at a women’s shelter, leading VBS/Backyard Bible Club, and teaching church leaders in villages.

Description: A team of medical professionals is needed to serve alongside our field partner working with minority peoples in East Asia. This team will be teaching in a local hospital so our partner can build relationships with other professionals to share the gospel. * Medical Teaching

Description: Connect with unreached people groups in northeast India by empowering local believers to share the gospel. Teams will teach, model, and assist local believers as they share their faith with their friends and neighbors.

Description: Work alongside a local partner helping develop a master strategy for sharing the gospel with an unreached people group in the region. Help implement technological advancements and develop ways to effectively share the gospel with an unreached Muslim people group.
