What Is The Support Team?
The purpose of your personal Global Support Team is twofold. First, these are prayer supporters for your mission abroad. Secondly, they are individuals who may assist you in the task of raising the funds needed to travel. Please know that this team is much more than a group of family and friends who may "write a check" for you. If your goal were simply to pay for the trip, you'd miss the biggest benefit of this Team.
As your supporters learn about your activities abroad, and you have the opportunity to share with them before and after your mission project, you'll be engaging them in global disciple-making. Many of our new travelers in future years will come from these support teams. The suppport team is one of the means you will be using to reproduce Christ-like disciple-makers for worldwide impact. Pretty cool, huh?
Sending Support Letters
Your support letter speaks with the voices of those who need help and cannot ask for it themselves. You are representing the needs of the hurting that you will be serving. Your presence on the field represents at least 50 hours of man-power and 50 pounds of resources for Christ-follwers and lost communities. All of your help goes to others in real need.
Remember too that when you write the support letters, you are building a support team, not just a funding team. You need them to pray for you and get the word about your effort so that a prayer network will be in place.

Important Rule Regarding Support Letters and Solicitations
Due to the massive response of Brook Hills members going on mission, support letters may not be sent to others within the Faith Family at Brook Hills. You may send to non-church members only. Please be diligent to comply with this rule, as inter-church solicitations would put many people in awkward situations and would quickly become frustrating.
A Word About Fund Raisers
We do not encourage "fund raiser" events to raise support funds other than individuals and families who conduct these apart from the church. If you'd like to do a "bake sale" or other event or ministry to raise funds, you may not use the name of the church in your event promotion (i.e.: an event "sponsored by The Church at Brook Hills"). You may only communicate that you are going on mission with the church. You may not pass out flyers or other promotional materials on campus, or use our media publications, website or church email to promote your fund-raiser. Because of the number of members participating, fund raisers would quickly get out of hand without these restrictions.
Online Giving by Support Team Members
Your Support Team members can choose to give online through our website to support your global effort. Ask them to visit www.myglobalgift.org to make their contribution using their credit card. They'll be asked to designate their gift with your name and travel dates online, and your balance will be credited.
Do You Have Extra Resources You Can Share?
While many will need suppport in order to travel with us, we realize that some of our members have an abundance of financial resources beyond their own personal needs. If you can support others through scholarship donations, this should be done through the Global Disciple-Making Office (contact information at the bottom of this page). Please contact us to find out how you can support others on mission, and allow our team to steward your donated resources in the most effective way.
