Phillip Townsend Next Generation Ministry Intern

What is your job at Brook Hills?
I disciple students and develop music leaders within that context.
What is your favorite part of your job?
It is a beautiful thing to see God draw students (or anyone!) to Himself while giving them gifts for ministry and a passion to share the Gospel with the world.
When did you first come to Brook Hills?
I came to Brook Hills in August of 2011.
Where are you from?
Cochran, Georgia.
Who is in your family?
My dad (Gerald) and mom (Annette) live in Cochran, GA. My older brother (Stephen) is married with two children and lives in Conyers, GA.
Please provide a short testimony about your relationship with Christ?
The Lord saved me as a 9 year old boy. I praise Him for the wise and godly people who have spoken truth into my life since that time. The more I learn to trust God’s Word, the more I realize the depths of my hopelessness apart from Christ. He has quickened my dead heart and shown me that His riches are infinitely more valuable than the passing pleasures of the world. The words of an old hymn have stayed with me: As we turn our eyes on Jesus and look full in His wonderful face, the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Matthew 16:26
What musical skill(s) do you have?
Vocals and guitar, primarily.
What was the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Family Force Five
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Anywhere that’s 75 degrees year round.
If you had a super power, what would it be & why?
I think teleportation is the way to go. It would provide instant access to people groups across the world. Plus, it’s probably the most convenient way to escape an awkward social situation.
These are a few of my favorite things…
Food – Just about anything with pasta
Candy – No thanks
Book – The Bible
Hobby – Music
Sport - Ultimate frisbee
What do you collect?
These days it’s books. As a kid, it was baseball cards, raisin men, and ninja turtles.
