Staff Team
Daniel Phillips Communications Associate

What is your favorite part of your job?
Having the opportunity to use my talents and skills to equip others for the advancement of the gospel to all nations through multimedia.
How & when did you first come to Brook Hills?
I came to Brook Hills in May of 2006 to campaign for the Christians of South Sudan. This led to my eventual move to Birmingham to serve in Communications.
Where are you from?
Knoxville, TN
Who is in your family?
My loving wife of four years, Andrea. My mother, father, and younger sister all reside in Tennesee.
Please provide a short testimony about your relationship with Christ?
Although I was exposed to the church from an early age, I did not clearly understand the gospel until one evening (at age 10) when my mother was reading through scripture to us, as we did every evening. I don’t remember exactly what we were reading through that night, but I do remember that I was overcome with the reality that my pride and rebellion against God separated me from Him. This caused me to trust completely in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which I had known about for some time, but never fully trusted in.
My heart was forever changed at that point. To this day I have a growing relationship with Jesus, although I still struggle to follow Him in full obedience. I pray daily for the life of Christ to be reflected in my own life for the sake of the gospel.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12-13
I hope to fully experience this scripture before I depart.
What is the best place you have ever visited?
It’s not fair to pick favorites, but I really do love the Andes Mts. From La Puerta to Merida. So many small towns at so many altitudes. And you are always walking through the clouds.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Without having been there (and thus, nothing to base it on), I would say New Zealand. But check back with me on this one…
These are a few of my favorite things...
Photographing beautiful people in forgotten places.
Watching new movies in old movie theatres.
Listening to 30’s jazz on a record player.
Sitting down for coffee or tea with a close friend.
Riding a motorcycle on old county roads.
Romantic dinners with my Andrea.
Once-in-a-lifetime moments, shared.
What do you collect?
Friends… and hats.
I recommend…
investing your time, life, resources and money in the people around you—it’s an investment that grows sweeter with time.
