Becca Benson Associate Student Minister

What is your job at Brook Hills?
Girls Minister. I work with 6th-12th grade girls in the Student Ministry.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love being around people; so having a job that requires me to do that is right up my alley! God has put an insatiable desire in my heart to disciple, mentor, and lead teen girls to know his truth and walk with him daily. By his grace God is giving me the desires of my heart because that is what I get to do everyday.
How & when did you first come to Brook Hills?
I was serving in a student ministry in Dallas and God began stirring my heart and leading me to the next season of ministry in my life. Through an incredible series of events that God orchestrated, I came in contact with the Next Generation Ministry at Brook Hills in the spring of 2011. In June of 2011 I packed up and moved to Birmingham and began serving in Student Ministry at Brook Hills. The rest is history!
Where are you from?
Laurel, MS
Who is in your family?
My parents are Brent and Sheila. My dad is a pastor and my mom teaches family and consumer sciences at the high school I went to. They are kind of incredible! I have one sister, JJ, who is my best friend and the source of the vast majority of my laughter! She is the Coordinator of Communication for the Admissions Office at Mississippi College. I also have a ridiculously incredible extended family!
Please provide a short testimony about your relationship with Christ?
Through his grace, God allowed me to have two parents who began teaching me the truth of the gospel from the very beginning. When I was 9 years old, I trusted Christ for my salvation. God put some incredible people in my life to encourage me in my walk, disciple me, and walk alongside me in this journey of life. I love Jesus. My joy comes from God alone. I am ready to see every nation proclaim the name of Jesus!
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Titus 2:11-14
What was the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Needtobreathe. House of Blues Dallas. Acoustic set at the end was ridiculous! Close second? Mute Math.
What is the best place you have ever visited?
I spent the summer after my sophomore year of college in Vancouver, BC, and fell in love with the city.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
New Zealand. I’ve never been but I just really think I would like it.
If you had a super power, what would it be & why?
It might be cliché, but I don’t care... I want to fly!
These are a few of my favorite things...
New adventures, live music, ice cream, surprises, animals, Hot Tamales (the candy!), travelling, tennis, meeting new people, snow...
