Today's post was written by BH member Jessica Giadrosich who reviewed Making Peace with Your Past by H. Norman Wright for us.

This is a great book for anyone who is tired of living in the past or of being defined by their past and is ready to let God start healing their hearts so they can be a more joyful, peaceful, and healthy person.

The author discusses various life events we've experienced over time and different childhood backgrounds we've come from and how they've made us into who we are today with our issues and struggles. Not stopping there, he encourages readers that they don't have to stay this way.

In Christ, we can find new life with a new identity and a new way of thinking, behaving, and responding to negative experiences or people. In our heavenly Father, we find all our needs and desires met that maybe never were or never fully can be by imperfect people. In a relationship with Him, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you, the healing of emotional wounds, overcoming baggage and strongholds, letting go, forgiving, and moving forward IS possible. Change doesn't happen over night, but it does occur over time.

Using people's real life examples, his knowledge of psychology, practical tools and strategies, and Scripture, the author offers helpful advice, guidance, and encouragement for those who are ready to live fully in the present as the person God intended them to be, not defined by how they've been treated or viewed by others (especially family). I would definitely recommend this book!
