Joseph Parker

Job title: Information Technologies Director

On the Brook Hills staff since: 2006

Birthday: March 29

Family: My parents, originally from southern Mississippi moved along the coast to Pensacola, Florida. My oldest brother and sister were born in Alabama somewhere and my youngest brother and I were born and raised in Pensacola. My father's employer hired him and my grandfather from their shipyard in Biloxi, Mississippi to construct boats for them in Pensacola. My mother is currently working for Olan Mills selling free stuff in their church directory branch. My oldest brother has two children lives in Georgia and works at Pepsi (loves the free drinks bro). My sister married a sailor they have three children and never in one place for more then two years. My youngest brother is working with dad at the shipyard trying to pay off that new mustang he purchased while also deciding how to finish college. And soon I'll start my own family with my fiance, and we'll have a wonderful life together.

Ministry Calling: Since high school I have made myself available to serve alongside ministers in my home church. At the same time God was blessing me with the experience and the knowledge to work with computers. It only makes sense to merge what gifts He's given me to the His very command of teaching all nations. My role at Brook Hills is to support the local and global mission efforts with the technology to communicate with each other, locally and globally.

What I Enjoy About Serving at Brook Hills: I love the fact that we have David Platt for a pastor and the that he preaches the truth of God's Word. And challenges us to obey Christ's commandments. The fact that this church family believes and doesn't make excuses about sharing their faith and supporting other nations through Christ instead of just their own. Because as a whole we stand together for God's message to be heard by all nations. It's like nothing I've ever seen before in any church.

Interesting and Unusual Facts: I enjoy playing electronic games with other people, maybe it's because I like to teach them a thing or two or maybe I enjoy the just the fellowship and laughs that we have while playing. I can twist my tongue into a clover space. I have broken both ankles and my mom never let me play football.

My Relationship with Christ: I learned about Christ and what He did for me at a young age. I remember walking down to our pastor and telling him I wanted to"ask Jesus into my heart." I'll you the truth--I grew in church, and thought I was saved because of my knowledge and goodness not because our church teaching just the opposite. My life was masked, I thought I had it good. What some might explain as "fire insurance" is what I had. Some of you might have heard of a camp called Student Life. I truly believe this is where my salvation started. I turned my life over to Jesus that week. I dedicated my life to his ministry. No longer would sit back and expect to be fed, but sew seeds myself. It was a very emotional time in my life, something I'll never forget.

Favorite Movie of All Time: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Favorite Sports: Paintball, air hockey, skeeball

Favorite Thing to Do on a Saturday: Hang out with friends, sleep. The best thing to do on a Saturday is to spend "quality time" with my soon-to-be-wife.

Last Thing I Do Before Going to Bed: Talk to my fiance on the phone until we both fall asleep
